New Orleans Brass Hockey Apparel

The New Orleans Brass started play for the 1997-98 season at Municipal Auditorium. They were one of seven hockey franchises that started in Louisiana in the mid-90s as cities all across the state took part in a boom of hockey across the gulf states.

The Brass had surprisingly steady records during their five seasons, winning between 30 and 36 games each season. The team would also make the playoffs each year, with their best run coming in 1999 as they made it all the way to the third round. A few Brass players ended up making the big show, including Kevin Colley, Jesse Boulerice, and Gordie Dwyer.

In 1999, the Brass moved to New Orleans Arena. Unfortunately, a dispute over costs of converting the arena back and forth between basketball and hockey would lead to the team folding in 2002. Of the original seven Louisiana teams that started play between 1995-97, only one still exists in the state today.Â
