New Haven Beast / Beast of New Haven
The Beast of New Haven were a short-lived minor league team with one of the most unique logos you'll ever see. The franchise originated in Greensboro, NC, and moved north for the 1997-98 season and became affiliated with Carolina, who had moved south from Hartford at the same time.
In their two seasons, the Beast were respectable on the ice with 38 and 33 win seasons. The team also featured a number of future or former big league players including Oleg Kvasha, Mark Parrish, and Peter Worrell. But their gargoyle-looking logo that fits in better at Halloween than it does a hockey rink is certainly what they will be remembered for. After their season second, the Beast did not have a pro affiliate and folded.
