Quebec Rafales

In 1996, the Atlanta Knights relocated to Quebec City, Quebec to become the Quebec Rafales, where they competed in the IHL from 1996-1998. They made the playoffs in their first year, but lost in the 2nd round. They did not qualify for the playoffs in their second season. They had to fold after their second season, due to the inability of the league to find a local buyer for the team. The Rafales’ coach for one and a half years was Jean Pronovost, who played 998 NHL games with Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Washington. Pronovost stepped down partway through his second season due to personal reasons. The IHL was hopeful they would be able to find a buyer for the 1999-2000 season, but unfortunately that never materialized.
