Long Island Jawz

For one summer in 1996, the Coliseum played host to hockey all summer long when the Long Island Jawz of Roller Hockey International moved in. The team had one of the fiercest logos around and were pretty good as well. They went 16-9-0-3 in their single season. They also  had a future big leaguer on the roster in Glen Metropolit, who would score 71 points in 28 games and go on to play eight seasons in the pros.

RHI didn't last very long but the Jawz would have an even shorter existence. The team got into a dispute over advertising signage with Coliseum management almost right out of the gates. They would throw in the towel after only one season.
