Long Island Cougars

After the EHL folded and the NAHL was formed from the northern teams, it was a surprised when one of the EHL's longer running teams, the Long Island Ducks, weren't included. The Ducks had run into attendance troubles with the NHL's Islanders starting in 1972, and folded with the EHL. The Long Island Cougars picked up where the Ducks left off, however, this time with a parent team in the WHA (Chicago Cougars). Their GM was Gerry Lamorouex, who played for the Ducks, and their coach was EHL and Ducks legend John Brophy. The Cougars wouldn't find the same success as the Ducks, though. They would make the playoffs in each of their two seasons, but never had the same fan support that the Ducks enjoyed in their heyday. After the 1974-75 season, they would move to Pennsylvania and become the Erie Blades, who enjoyed much more on-ice success.
