Grand Falls Andcos
The Grand Falls Andcos (also known as the All-Stars until 1956) were a franchise in the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League (senior and senior A level). They were formed in 1945 and a version of the team existed until 1962. The goal of the team was to recruit players in order to be able to compete with teams from Corner Brook and St. John’s. The team’s owners built a brand new arena, capable of holding thousands of fans, in 1948, and they hired ex-NHL star Gordie Drillon as their head coach for that season.
The team won 5 straight championships between 1955-59 (also having won in 1953), but eventually folded in 1962.
