New Haven Bears
The New Haven Bears were the first in a long line of hockey teams from New Haven, CT. The Bears started play in the USAHA, a senior amateur league, in 1922. The league originally consisted of teams from Massachusetts and New York, but by the 1920s is expanded to include teams as far west as Pittsburgh and Minnesota. The Bears would last only two seasons, 1922-23 and 1923-24. The league itself would fold after one more season. The Bears name would be reborn in the late 1940s/early 1950s as a senior amateur team from New Haven adopted the name. The original Bears team did use a logo with the profile of a bear's head, which we have tried to recreate in this design.
