Mohawk Valley Stars
The Mohawk Valley Stars were one in a long line of hockey teams from the Utica, NY area. They played from 1981-85 in the short-lived Atlantic Coast Hockey League (ACHL). They won the seven-team league's first title during the 1981-82 season, defeating the Salem Raiders in six games. In their second season, they returned to the finals, only to lose to the Carolina Thunderbirds in four games. They would spend two more years in the ACHL before folding after the 1984-85 season and were replaced in the ACHL by the Mohawk Valley Comets.
