Michigan Stags

After the 1973-74 season, the Los Angeles Sharks were sold to a group of investors from Detroit. They moved the team to the Motor City and renamed the team to the Michigan Stags. At the time, the NHL's Detroit franchise had missed the playoffs for six of the past seven seasons, so there was hope that the Stags would be a better alternative. Once they hit the ice that proved to not be true. The club averaged low attendance numbers and folded midway through the season. The WHA would take over control of the team and move them east to become the Baltimore Blades.
