Paul Gadola
Paul V. Gadola was an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Gadola served as a District Judge covering the Flint branch. He joined the court in 1988 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan and took on senior status in 2001. Gadola retired on disabled status in 2009 after facing health problems.[1] He passed away on December 26, 2014.[2]
Education
A native of Flint, Michigan, Gadola graduated with his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1951 and received his J.D. degree from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor Law School in 1953.[3]
Military service
After law school, Gadola served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.[3]
Professional career
Gadola worked as an attorney in private practice in Genessee County from 1955 to 1989. He also previously was a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, certified as a diplomat in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and was a lifetime fellow of the American Trial Lawyers Foundation. He served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and as a mediator for the circuit courts of Genesee and Shiawassee counties.[3]
Judicial career
Eastern District of Michigan
Gadola was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on April 23, 1987, to a seat vacated by John Feikens as Fiekens went on senior status. Gadola was confirmed by the United States Senate on October 14, 1988, on a Senate vote and received commission on October 17, 1988. Gadola assumed senior status on January 31, 2001, and retired in 2009.[3]
