Howard McKibben

Howard McKibben is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. He joined the court in 1984 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. McKibben is a judge serving on senior status.
Early life and education
McKibben graduated from Bradley University based in Peoria, IL with his bachelor's degree in 1962 and later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with his master's degree in Public Affairs in 1964. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School with his J.D. in 1967.
Professional career
McKibben was a private practice atoorney licensed in the State of Nevada from 1967 to 1971. In 1971, McKibben became a Deputy district attorney for Douglas County from 1969 to 1971 then became lead District attorney for Douglas County from 1971 to 1977. In 1977, McKibben became a district court judge in the Ninth Judicial District Court of the State of Nevada, until his appointment to the federal bench in 1984.

McKibben was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on September 28, 1984 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333 which was approved by Congress.[1] McKibben was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 4, 1984 on a senate vote and received commission on October 4, 1984. McKibben served as the chief judge of the court from 1997 to 2002 before later assuming senior status on April 1, 2005.
