Stephen Hale Anderson is a federal judge on senior status with the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.[1]
Early life and education
A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Andersen attended Eastern Oregon College of Education and Brigham Young University. He graduated from University of Utah College of Law with his LL.B in 1960.[1][2]
Military career
Andersen served in the U.S. Army 44th Infantry Division from 1953 to 1955.[1]

Anderson was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on July 23, 1985, to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333. Hearings on Anderson's nomination were held before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on September 11, 1985, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) the next day. Anderson was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on October 16, 1985, and he received his commission the same day. Anderson assumed senior status on January 1, 2000.[1][3] He was succeeded in this position by Judge Michael McConnell.
