  • Panthers' David Moore: Surprise receiving leader in Week 12

Moore played 58 of Carolina's 62 offensive snaps and finished with six receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets in Sunday's 30-27 loss to Kansas City.

Though the Panthers returned Adam Thielen (hamstring) from injured reserve for the Week 12 contest, the absence of Jalen Coker (quadricep) opened up plenty of snaps for Moore. The 29-year-old journeyman wideout took advantage of the opportunity, pacing all Carolina pass catchers in receptions, receiving yards and targets while also hauling in Bryce Young's lone touchdown pass in the narrow loss. Coker was a non-participant in the Panthers' first Week 13 practice Wednesday and could be trending toward another absence this Sunday against the Buccaneers, putting Moore on track to play elevated snaps once again.

  • Panthers' D.J. Wonnum: Dealing with hamstring issue

Wonnum (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

Wonnum played through a quadriceps issue in the Panthers' Week 12 loss to the Chiefs, recording five total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, across 51 defensive snaps. However, it now appears he picked up a hamstring injury in the process. Wonnum's practice participation Thursday and Friday will likely provide the best indication of whether the first-year Panther can suit up for the Week 13 matchup against the Buccaneers.

  • Panthers' DJ Johnson: Past concussion

Johnson (concussion) was not listed on the Panthers' injury report Wednesday.

The second-year pro was inactive for the Panthers' Week 12 loss to the Chiefs after sustaining a concussion prior to the team's Week 11 bye, but his omission from Wednesday's injury report suggests he's cleared the NFL's five-step protocol. With Johnson now back to full health, he's expected to serve as Carolina's top backup outside linebacker.

  • Panthers' Ja'Tavion Sanders: Unlikely to play Sunday

Head coach Dave Canales said Wednesday that the Panthers don't expect Sanders (neck) to play Sunday against the Buccaneers, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Sanders was placed on a backboard and carted off the field just before halftime of this past Sunday's loss to the Chiefs after he landed on his neck as he was tackled at the end of a 10-yard catch and run. He was evaluated further at a Charlotte-area hospital before getting discharged not long after the game. Canales told Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer on Monday that Sanders avoided a serious injury before adding Wednesday that the rookie tight end may practice later this week. In any case, Sanders seems destined to be inactive Week 13.

  • Panthers' Jalen Coker: Sidelined for practice Wednesday

Coker (quadricep) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Coker was a late addition to the Panthers' injury report last Friday due to a quad issue that left him questionable for Week 12 action. He eventually was deemed inactive for this past Sunday's game against the Chiefs, and he now has missed two straight practice sessions as a result of the injury. Head coach Dave Canales told Joe Person of The Athletic on Wednesday that he doesn't expect Coker to be available Sunday versus the Buccaneers, something that may be confirmed by the time Carolina posts its final report of the week Friday.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Four catches in close loss

Legette caught four of his six targets for 56 yards during Sunday's 30-27 loss versus the Chiefs.

Despite pacing Carolina's wide receivers in snaps in Week 12, Legette's six targets lagged behind teammate David Moore (10). His struggles reeling in targets also continued, as he dropped a well-placed deep ball from Bryce Young late in the fourth quarter. The Panthers will host a poor Buccaneers defense in Week 13.

  • Panthers' Ja'Tavion Sanders: No practice Wednesday

Sanders (neck) isn't practicing Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Sanders endured a scary situation this past Sunday versus the Chiefs, when he was tackled low at the end of a 10-yard catch and run and landed on his neck. He was placed on a backboard before being carted off the field and taken to a Charlotte-area hospital, but he was discharged not long after the game. On Monday, head coach Dave Canales told Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer that Sanders avoided a serious injury, but the rookie right end won't take part in any drills to begin Week 13 prep. Sanders' listing on practice reports Thursday and Friday may be telling for his odds to play Sunday against the Buccaneers.

  • Panthers' Nick Scott: Gets clearance to practice again

Carolina designated Scott (hamstring) for return to practice from its injured reserve list Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Scott has spent Carolina's last four games on injured reserve due to a lingering hamstring issue, but it now appears he could be on track to return soon. The Panthers will have 21 days to officially activate him before they'd be required to place him back on injured reserve for the rest of the season.
