Reno Rage / Reno Renegades

As a founding member of the WCHL, the Reno Renegades began play in the 1995-96 season. Their games were held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The Renegades had a pretty good inaugural season, finishing 26-24 and making the playoffs. Former NHLer Ron Flockhart coached the club. In their second season, the Renegades experienced a decrease in attendance and weren't particularly good on the ice. They won only 16 games out of a possible 64 that season. The squad did try to create an impact by recruiting female goaltender Manon Rheaume, who played 11 games for the team and had the highest save % of all of their goalies that year.

For their third season, 1997-98,  they attempted to make another move to get attention by fully rebranding. The team's name was changed to Reno Rage, and the cartoon cowboy emblem was replaced with a bear logo in a wide range of colors, including red, black, white, and pink. Unfortunately, the modifications would have no effect on the freshly minted Rage. They drew fewer people and won only 23 of 64 games. The Renegades/Rage would dissolve after their third season.
