Madison Monsters
The Madison Monsters are from Madison, Wisconsin, and they competed in the United Hockey League from 1995 to 1999. On the ice, they enjoyed moderate success, making the playoffs in three of their four seasons. However, the squad is arguably most known for its eye-catching crest of a monster tearing through the front of the shirt, as well as a few Broadstreet Bully ties.
The renowned Dave Schultz coached the club throughout the 1996-97 season. Schultz would not return the following season, but the club kept the Philly link alive by having former NHLer Reggie Leach suit up for a game at age 47. It's strange to look at Leach's career stats and notice a gap of more than ten years between his final two seasons.
In the middle of 1999, the Monsters relocated to Knoxville and became the Speed, but they left behind one of the coolest minor league logos you'll ever see.
