Nashville South Stars
The Nashville South Stars were only in the CHL for one season, 1981-82. But don't let it overshadow the fact that they left us one of the coolest and oddest logos ever in the form of a hockey player carrying a guitar rather than a stick. He appears to be preparing to hit it over his opponent's head like a wrestler.
The CHL's South Stars also get some credit for helping revitalizing hockey in Nashville, since they were the city's first team since the heyday of the Nashville Dixie Flyers over a decade before. They fell in round one of their final and only season, and their most distinguished alumni, Don Beaupre, can claim five games. The team collapsed after 1981-82, and another ACHL franchise with the same name was formed in its stead for 1982-83. In the midst of the 1983-84 season, the ACHL version of the South Stars relocated to Salem, VA and became the Lancers.
