Anela (Japanese: モアニ Moani) is a recurring character in Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon. She is a friend of Ash's Incineroar and runs a fruit stall in the Hau'oli City marketplace.

History

Anela debuted in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, where she provided Litten some Berries. After spotting a flock of Pikipek, Trumbeak, and Rowlet fly overhead, she explained to Litten that the flock visits the market every year to collect food. Anela happily donated some fruit to the Flying-type Pokémon.

In That's Why the Litten is a Scamp!‬, Anela provided Litten with some more Berries and explained to Ash and Professor Kukui that Litten does this every day.

In One Journey Ends, Another Begins..., Anela picked up a doughnut that had fallen out of Ash's bag. She went to give it back to Ash only for Litten to grab it and run off. Ash also visited her following Stoutland's disappearance. Anela gave him some Berries to deliver to Litten and instructed him to tell Litten it could come to the marketplace anytime.

Anela has attended multiple events at the Pokémon School, including the Family Visit Day in Alolan Open House! and the school play in Lillier and the Staff!.

Ash and his friends often visit Anela's fruit stall, where she offers them and their Pokémon bowls of produce free of charge, like in The Ol' Raise and Switch! and We Know Where You're Going, Eevee!. In Alola, Alola!, she met Misty who was visiting Alola and laughed after Psyduck swallowed a watermelon whole.

She attended Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet's wedding in The Professors' New Adventure!.

In the banned episode SM064, Anela got to meet Litten for the first time after its evolution into Torracat and gave it some Sitrus Berries to eat. She also witnessed a fight between two groups of Passimian.

Anela wearing her Dancer dress

In All They Want to Do is Dance Dance!, Anela's name was finally revealed by Mallow. Anela met Mallow and Steenee in the market place where she gave Steenee some fruit and watched as it danced. She went on to show Mallow the Hula Dance and brought out her Oricorio to perform it on the street, which inspired Mallow and Steenee to do it for their upcoming Pokémon Dance performance. She was invited to the Pokémon School for a Pokémon Dance presentation, where it was revealed that she used to be a Dancer. She was later trapped by Team Rocket and watched as Steenee evolved into Tsareena.

In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, Anela offered an apple to a shrunken Sophocles and his Togedemaru, before Ash and Lillie arrived at her stall.

In Securing the Future!, Anela joined the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could return to its true form.

In Living on the Cutting Edge!, Anela had her fruit cut by a Kartana. She later explained the incident to Ash, who was searching for Kartana. She then gave some sliced fruit to him and his Pokémon to enjoy.

Character

Anela has an affable and generous personality, as shown through her friendship with Litten. She is a community-minded individual and enjoys an event-filled calendar outside of her role as a greengrocer. In Real Life...Inquire Within!, she delivered Berries to Nurse Joy after learning that she was unwell. Anela often gives Ash, his friends and their Pokémon bowls of fruit, free of charge, when they visit her stall. This comes from Anela's generous heart and her love and respect for nature, often citing that nature's bounty is for everyone to share and enjoy.
