米Adobe Systemsは6月19日、電子書籍や電子新聞を取得、管理、閲覧するためのソフト「Adobe Digital Editions 1.0」をリリースした。 同製品はPDFとXMLベースのコンテンツをネイティブサポートし、既に15万以上の作品に対応している。画面サイズに合わせて表示を調節する機能や、Flashサポートを備える。IDPF Open Publication Standard（OPS）もサポートし、XHTMLベースの電子書籍も読める。 O’Reilly Mediaなどの出版社やeBooks.comなどの小売業者が同製品のサポートを表明している。出版社はAdobe InDesign CS3のエクスポート機能を使えば、Digital Editions対応のコンテンツを容易に作成できるという。またソニーは自社の電子書籍リーダーにDigital Editions技術を組み込む。
