Laurie Smith Camp
Laurie Smith Camp was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. She joined the court in 2001 after being nominated by President George W. Bush (R). She assumed senior status on December 1, 2018. Camp's service officially ended on September 23, 2020, when she died.
Camp served as chief judge of the court from 2011 to 2018.[1]
Education
Camp graduated from Stanford University with her bachelor's degree in 1974. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Law School in 1977.[1]

- 1991-1995: Appointed member, Civil Rights Section, Nebraska Department of Justice
- 1980-1991: General Counsel, Nebraska Department of Correctional Services

Federal judicial nomination
District of Nebraska
On the recommendation of Senator Chuck Hagel, Camp was nominated by President George W. Bush (R) on September 4, 2001, to a seat vacated by Judge William Cambridge. The U.S. Senate confirmed Camp's nomination on October 23, 2001. She received commission on October 24, 2001. Camp retired from full-time service, assuming senior status, December 1, 2018. Her service officially ended on September 23, 2020, when she died.[1]
Camp served as chief judge of the court from 2011 to 2018.[1]
