Gene E. K. Pratter was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She joined the court in 2004 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. She left office on May 17, 2024, when she died.[1]

Education

Pratter graduated from Stanford University with her bachelor's degree in 1971 and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School with her J.D. degree in 1975.[1]

Professional career

Pratter spent her legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Pennsylvania, from 1975 to 2004.[1]

Judicial career

Eastern District of Pennsylvania

On the recommendation of U.S. Senators Rick Santorum and Arlen Specter, Pratter was nominated by President George W. Bush on November 3, 2003, to a seat vacated by Judge William Yohn as Yohn assumed senior status. Pratter was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 15, 2004, on a unopposed 98-0-2 vote and received commission on June 16, 2004.[2] She left office on May 17, 2024, when she died.[1]
