What to Know About "Emily in Paris" Season 4, Including Its Filming Hiccup

"Emily in Paris" season four is still on the way, though it could be a while before it premieres. Filming for the next installment of our favorite Paris-based squad has been delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but Variety reported on Sept. 29 that the show is expected to start shooting in January. Time is really of the essence.

From June 2024 through that September, all shoots in Paris are barred while the Olympic Games take place, plus access to key areas in the French capital could be restricted as early as March. Production has also already been forced to switch studios. With shooting locations becoming more competitive due to the smaller shooting time frame, it'll be a frantic few months for the "Emily in Paris" crew. But we have faith they'll make it work (please!). Series star Lily Collins spilled a few details about season four in a video at Netflix's Tudum fan event in Brazil on June 17, promising more twists and a Roman holiday for Emily. "We are getting ready for season four of 'Emily in Paris' and are so excited to see what's next for Emily," she said. "It's safe to say, we ended on a dramatic note last season. And surprise! It does not end there. . . . What I can tell you is that we have more fun, more fashion, and, of course, more drama in store for you all."

Collins continued, "Emily is going to have to decide if everything she's ever wanted is really what she needs. And while Emily's heart will always remain true to Paris, her life takes some unexpected twists this season. Don't be surprised to find her on a Roman holiday."

"Emily in Paris" season three ended with a shocking finale twist. It answered all our questions about Emily's (Collins) fate in the City of Light — career- and dating-wise. However, season three dragged her back into her never-ending love square when Camille (Camille Razat) revealed she knew Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Emily still had feelings for each other — but not before announcing she was pregnant!

Yes, the twist we may (or may not) have seen coming might have put an end to Emily and Alfie's (Lucien Laviscount) sweet romance once and for all, but it also left us wondering what the future holds for Emily, Gabriel, and Camille (and their baby?). Unfortunately for us, the cast seem just as clueless about what's up ahead for season four, which Netflix green-lit back in January 2022.

"We don't actually know the time frame between [seasons] three and four," Collins told POPSUGAR in December 2022. "You know how sometimes it picks up a day after or a few days [later]? We don't know anything about season four yet, so we don't know if we might pick up in a decision or in still lack of decision. We would love to know." Samuel Arnold, who plays Julian, told POPSUGAR at the time, "We always get surprised every season, so we can't even predict what's going to happen."

No official cast announcements have arrived yet, but considering season three's finale, it's safe to assume Collins, Bravo, and Razat will return. According to Variety, part of season four filmed along with season three last year, so other returning cast members could include Ashley Park (Mindy), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Arnold, and Bruno Gouery (Luc). With Emily and Alfie's relationship up in the air, it's unclear if Laviscount will return to reprise his role.

The only season four plot details that've been teased stem from season three's finale and what Collins has shared so far. But if we know nothing else, Gouery is certain that season four's plot will revolve around Camille's shocking news. "We discover incredible information [in the finale]," he told POPSUGAR, "and that information, it will be the center of season four." Meanwhile, William Abadie, who plays Antoine, predicted season four will deliver more of that "Darren Star magic." "We've got France as a country, the locations, we've got a lot more fun on our way," he said. "I think we've got a nice little thing here."
