I'm scared my friend will blame me if he gets sick.

I had a dinner date with a friend of mine tonight. As I thought he was a good friend, I felt comfortable opening up with him about getting sick on Sunday/Monday (by the way, fully recovered now, just not 100% yet purely from exhaustion/treatment side effects only). He expressed concern about getting sick, but continued to talk about it. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and it was hard keeping my composure. [more inside]

YANMD, but I'm concerned — got a cough and loss of taste/smell.

This is not normal for me. Normally, I get colds and sore throats/coughs that go away within 2-3 days. This time, about two weeks ago-ish, I started having a persistent cough. About 5 days ago, I completely lost my sense of smell/taste, although the cough has healed somewhat. Been coughing up a lot of mucus and have a somewhat runny nose. [more inside]

What happened to me? Poop edition.

Last night I got a single episode of sudden, unexpected (isn't it always), crampy diarrhea. Advice on recovering from (mild?) pneumonia

I had pneumonia for a while. I think not too bad as pneumonia goes. I seem to be recovering. I’ve heard stories about people having weeks, or months, of fatigue after this illness, and needing tons of rest. I’m not sure if that’ll happen to me, but it worries me. I’ve been advised (by online sources, and my doctor) to not push too hard. But I’m not sure what that means. I’m curious what I might expect, and what I should do, as I recover, and how to ease back into regular life. [more inside]

Neighbor's weed usage is waking me up due to the smell. Help!

My upstairs neighbor has started smoking weed in their bathroom on a regular basis. This often seems to happen in the middle of the night, and unfortunately it wakes me up and sends me to the bathroom to dry heave, which is the worst place to go because that is where the smell is coming down into on the first place! My fancy air filters don't help and neither does febreeze. What else can I do when I sense the onset? Tonight the smell is so thick I am considering going to my office across town to sleep in peace, so immediately implementable solutions are very welcome.

How to talk to the love of my life?

I’m in love with a man I’ve been with for six complicated years. My ten year old girl believes this man is her entire world. Honestly, he is our entire world. I don’t know that he feels the same way for me anymore. I think he’s interested in a woman he works with as I’m not allowed to visit his workplace even though I know many of his workmates for decades. I digress. Three weeks ago, my younger sister told me she has cancer. I found out two and a half weeks ago that I have cancer. It’s in it’s early stage, so I’m lucky. I don’t know if I should tell this man I love that I have cancer. I don’t think he’s in it to win it with me and I don’t want him prolong the relationship with me because he feels bad for me. He stayed with an old girlfriend for several years because he felt bad breaking up with her while her mother was dying of cancer. Do I bother telling him I have cancer?

YANMD - but what is this mystery? And should I see a doc?

2 weeks ago, I thought I was coming down with a cold - one night, I started sneezing a ton & my nose started running. I went for a really intense sports massage the next morning and came out feeling very emotional & teary & tired. A few hours later I felt so tired and out of it that I went home - for approx 24 hours of vomiting & diarrhea and feeling awful. Complete with red rash on my chest. And then I was okay. Kinda tired & out of it for another day or so, but fine. No cold symptoms, even. I wrote it up to flu, or maybe food poisoning. THEN THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED YESTERDAY. What? [more inside]

Break my daughter's heart or get sicker

I have come to the realisation that I can no longer safely or humanely look after the 2 cats my daughter grew up with. It is not fair to them, my neighbours, my landlord, and I am unwell and it is difficult for me. But my daughter has gone through so much in the past few years, bulimia, OCD, anxiety, depression, at least 2 rapes, her grandmother died, her father went to prison for a horrible crime. She can't take the cats on, she lives in a high rise on a limited income. There is no one else. I can't face telling her that I need to find a new home for them, and causing her more grief, but I can't keep doing this. It's too hard. I also love the cats but I'm not being a good enough kitty mama. What do I do?
