Description
本発明は、エラストマー複合材料(composites)を生成し、加工するための新規の方法および装置、ならびに、そのような方法および装置を使って生成された新規のエラストマー複合材料に関するものである。詳記するならば、本発明は、エラストマー中に微細に分散した粒状充填材のエラストマー・マスタバッチ、例えば天然ゴム中に微細に分散したカーボンブラック粒状充填材のエラストマー複合材料、そのようなマスタバッチ組成物(compositions)から形成されたゴム材料やゴム製品等を生成し、加工するための連続フローの方法および装置に関するものである。
様々な合成エラストマー、天然ゴムまたはエラストマー配合材料(blends)のどの中にも粒状充填材が分散しているエラストマー組成物から、商業的意義のある多数の製品が形成される。例えばカーボンブラックは、天然ゴムおよび他のエラストマーにおける補強剤として広く使用される。マスタバッチ、すなわちエラストマーは、カーボンブラックまたは他の充填材とともに凝固させ、任意にエキステンダー油等の様々な添加物(additives)を含有する形で生成するのが普通である。カーボンブラック・マスタバッチは、相異なるグレードのカーボンブラック、すなわち単位重量当たり表面積と“構造”の両方で変わるカーボンブラックを使って調製することができる。

この長年の切実な要求の全部または幾分かに応えることが、本発明の目的である。
第1の形態に従い、粒状充填材とエラストマーを有するほとんど凝固したマスタバッチを加工する方法であって、細長い処理室の中に軸方向に向けられた多重ローターを有する連続的な混合機(compounder)の供給口にマスタバッチを供給する工程、連続的な混合機の処理室を通してマスタバッチをローターの制御された操作によって処理する工程、および連続的な混合機の吐出口からマスタバッチを吐出する工程を包含する。ある好適な実施例では、この方法は、連続的な混合機の吐出口からのマスタバッチをオープンミルの中に通す工程、および/または、連続的な混合機において補助(additional)材料をマスタバッチに配合する工程も包含してよい。ある好適な実施例では、補助材料は、補助(additional)充填材、補助エラストマー、第2のマスタバッチ、油および他の添加剤の中から選択してよい。ある好適な実施例では、連続的な混合機はマスタバッチを乾燥させてよい。ある好適な実施例では、連続的な混合機はマスタバッチのムーニー粘度を制御する。

この実験は、連続的な混合機(FCM)の乾燥能力をテストするために行われた。この実験は、オイルの流れを添加し組み入れるための能力をテストするようにも構成されていた。この湿潤サンプルは天然ゴム乳液濃縮物とN331タイプのカーボンブラックとで作られた。マスタバッチは、約20重量%の水分レベルで連続的な混合機に供給された。
この実験は、連続的な混合機(FCM)の乾燥能力をテストするために行われた。この実験は、オイルの流れを添加し組み入れるための能力をテストするようにも構成されていた。この湿潤サンプルは天然ゴム乳液濃縮物とN220タイプのカーボンブラックとで作られた。マスタバッチは、約25重量%の水分レベルで連続的な混合機に供給された。

Claims (1)
- 凝固されたエラストマーを具備するエラストマー複合材料において、前記エラストマー内に粒状の充填材が以下の方法により分散されており、この方法が、
エラストマー乳液を具備する第1の流体の連続的な流れを、混合区域から吐出端まで伸張する凝固区域を形成する凝固反応器の混合区域へ供給する手順と、
エラストマー乳液を有する混合物を形成するために、圧力下で粒状の充填材を具備する第2の流体の連続的な流れを凝固反応器の混合区域に供給する手順であって、混合物が吐出端まで連続的な流れとして通過し、粒状の充填材がエラストマー乳液を凝固するために有効であり、混合区域内における第1の流体と第2の流体が十分に混合されて、吐出端までの前に、粒状の充填材を有するエラストマー乳液を完全に凝固させる、供給手順と、
凝固反応器の吐出端からエラストマー複合材料の連続的な流れを吐出する手順と、
凝固反応器の吐出端から処理室内で軸方向を向く複数の平行なローターを有する連続的な混合機へ、エラストマー複合材料を供給する手順と、
ローターの制御された運転により、連続的な混合機の処理室を介してエラストマー複合材料を処理する手順と、
連続的な混合機の吐出オリフィスからエラストマー複合材料を吐出する手順と、
オープンミルを介して連続的な混合機の出口オリフィスからのエラストマー複合材料を処理する手順と、
