Abstract
449,200. Ventilators. CRAIG, W., Marypark, Langbank, Renfrewshire, and CRAIG, J., Barscube, Paisley Road, Barrhead, Glasgow. Feb. 9, 1935, No. 4251. [Class 137] A wall ventilator comprises a rectangular box fitting into an opening, and having a vertical baffle F extending externally of the opening, and a horizontal baffle H dividing the opening into major and minor openings in the former of which is mounted a baffle J turning about a fixed pivot, and counterbalanced by a weight W. Curved bars G may be provided to make a cover for the opening. With a high wind velocity, the baffle J is depressed until it contacts with the partition H, sufficient air then entering through the minor opening, the major opening being controlled in proportion to the strength of the wind by movement of the baffle J. The vertical baffle F, which may be pivoted, directs a cross wind into the opening. In a modification, a series of external baffles may be arranged parallel to the central baffle F, or the partition H may be omitted, the baffle J being prevented from extending entirely across the opening.
