Abstract

1449308 Condenser F A SCHUURINK 21 Aug 1974 [3 Sept 1973] 36761/74 Heading BIB [Also in Divisions F3 and F4] A drier, e.g. a tumble drier, is provided wherein at least a portion of the air used for drying is re-circulated and a condenser is mounted in the path of the air. The condenser comprises a tube 30 through which cooling water flows and a pump 52 powered by the cooling water. Condensate collected in a sink 55 is removed therefrom by the pump 52 through a suction line 54. A non-return valve may be provided in the suction line 54 adjacent the pump 52. Should the cooling water become blocked or restricted the temperature of the drying air increases. This increase is monitored and the machine closed down. Cooling water passes through a solenoid actuated valve upstream of the condenser. The air is drawn by a fan 6 over heaters 38 and urged into the drum 1 of the drier through apertures 7. The door of the drier is provided with a screen 23.
