Abstract

1384708 Trans-shipping at sea GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 26 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 30961/71 Heading B8E [Also in Division E1] A mast 1, suitable for supporting the end of a cable carrying a load as it is transferred to or from a ship on a high line transfer system, is retractable into a tube in the deck 27 by means of the actuation of a ram 15, 16 by hudraulic fluid from a pump P. The ram shaft 16 is connected to the lower end of the mast 1 and moves at one end of the single cylinder 11. Another piston 12 at the other end of the cylinder separately controls the operation of a lifting beam 7 which lowers the load from the wire. Alternatively the arm 7 may be constructed as described in Specification 1,226,440.
