Abstract

1,175,128. Jib cranes; load handling; grabs. HIAB-FOCO A.B. 5 Dec., 1967 [13 Dec., 1966], No. 55262/67. Headings B8B and B8H. [Also in Division F1] A jib crane 30, Fig. 10, includes a mast 31 rotatable by an hydraulic piston-and-cylinder unit 34, 35 through rack-and-pinion gearing, a grab 41 being rotatable about a vertical axis by a rotary positive-displacement hydraulicmotor 43, which is attached to the free end of an arm 33 pivotally connected to a lifting arm 32 on said mast. The arms aforesaid are actuated by hydraulic piston-and-cylinder units 37, 38 and 39, 40 controlled by valves 46, 47 in an hydraulic system containing pumps 27, 28 and further valves 48-51 for controlling a piston-and-cylinder unit 60, 61, Fig. 7, which actuates the jaws 42 of the grab, a capstan 44 (see Division F1) for a towline 45, the motor 43 and the unit 34, 35, respectively. The grab is fixed to the lower end 62 of the output shaft of the motor 43, which in the arrangement shown in Fig. 7 is constituted by a motor 64 illustrated in detail in Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), (see Division F1).
