Abstract

1,120,050. Ships derricks. ORENSTEIN-KOPPEL UND LUBECKER MASCHINENBAU A.G. 14 Sept., 1966 [18 Nov., 1965], No. 41151/66. Heading B8B. A ships derrick, Fig. 1, has two jibs 8, 9 mounted on a slewing turntable 6 in such a manner that they can be independently luffed and slewed. A mast 17 is fixed to the turntable 6 and the jibs are mounted on subsidiary turntables 12, 13. The jibs may be luffed by hydraulic rams instead of cables. Fig. 6, shows an embodiment in which the jib 8 has a forked base which is supported on a slewing ring 25 concentric with the mast 17. In Fig. 7 (not shown) the mast (17) is fixed to the ship and a cross-member (18) slews with the turntable 6. Fig. 8 illustrates an embodiment in which a mast 28, fast with the ship, extends through the mast 17 which is hollow. The mast 17 has the usual cross-member 18 which supports two jibs mounted on the turntable, whilst the mast 28 supports a heavy jib 29 luffably mounted on the turntable 6. Fig. 10 shows an embodiment with a jib 29 and a cross-member 18 driven synchronously with the turntable 6.
