SE INSUFLA EL MATERIAL QUE HA DE SER TRATADO, QUE ES OXIDO DE HIERRO CON OXIDOS DEL METAL VOLATIL, POR EJEMPLO ZINC, POR LA ENTRADA (10) A LA ZONA DE REACCION DEL REACTOR (1), EN DONDE, JUNTO AL AGENTE REDUCTOR SUMINISTRADO POR LA ENTRADA (9), ES CALENTADO RAPIDAMENTE Y REACCIONA PARA FORMAR PRODUCTOS DE REDUCCION LIQUIDOS Y GASEOSOS. LOS PRODUCTOS DE REDUCCION LIQUIDOS SON RECOGIDOS EN EL FONDO DE LA CUBA Y SON RETIRADOS A TRAVES DE LAS ABERTURAS DE SANGRADO (13 Y 14), MIENTRAS QUE LOS GASEOSOS SUBEN POR LA CUBA Y SON EXTRAIDOS POR EL TUBO DE GAS (7). LA CUBA ESTA LLENA DE COQUE Y SE MANTIENE EN EL MISMO NIVEL SIEMPRE PARA CONSEGUIR UN APANTALLAMIENTO EN LA PARTE SUPERIOR QUE IMPIDA QUE SE CONDENSEN LOS VAPORES DEL METAL ASCENDENTE.
