Saturday Flotsam and Jetsam
Have a new miscellaneous thoughts and observations post up on Substack.
Seems like everything is happening at once: Thursday's debate performance by Joe Biden reveals him as dementia ridden to anyone with eyes who was watching. The corporate media is now being held in contempt for obviously lying about Biden's competency in the past. And the Supreme Court's Chevron ruling may be the death knell of the deep state. Will history view this as the beginning of a revolution? I was hoping for more tar and feathers.

Will Joe Biden Resign or Be Replaced?
The movement for Joe Biden to step aside for his own good and the good of the Party is becoming a steamroller. Have a new post up on Substack discussing how Thursday's debate performance revealed to any viewer what was already clear to most.
Joe Biden must step aside by the DNC Convention in Augusts. Just get ready for a flood of articles about what candidate could possibly beat Donald Trump in an election. Also look for many candidates to throw their hats into the ring and hype their own abilities,

Post Debate Panic
Recently I wrote that many are questioning why Donald Trump could agree to such terms for the debate but post debate people will be wondering how Joe Biden's handlers could allow him to speak in public? Wow was that spot on or what?

- Trump turned Biden's "performance" last night into a campaign commercial. Devastating.
Priests Playing Poker
The sins associated with playing cards are nothing new. The Synod of 1404 forbade card-playing by the clergy and in 1423 Saint Bernard called for the faithful to go home, get their playing cards and burn them right in the public square outside of Saint Peter's in the Vatican.
I wonder if that ruling against clergy playing cards has ever been rescinded? Personally I can't ever recall seeing a priest at a poker table. And now I really want a version of Dogs Playing Cards but with priests instead.

Friday Flotsam and Jetsam
Have a new miscellaneous thoughts and observations post up on Substack.
Watched the debate last night until around 10:30 and had to quit because I couldn't take it any more. Trump, rightly, harped on how disastrous the open borders policy of this Administration has been for the country, Biden called it malarkey and claimed the Border Patrol Union supported him (a claim that was refuted in real-time by the union who said they never supported Biden and never will). How anyone could think Biden is in the same condition as the man who ran in 2020 that's running today is disturbing,

Some Presidential Debate Humor
When I think about tonight's Presidential debate I can't help but have two thoughts; I keep thinking of the Monty Python and the Holy Grail bit of "come see the repression in the system" and I hope comedian Shane Gillis gets some good material out of tonight's debate. Anyway...

The NCAA has decided to not test or punish players in the college playoffs testing positive for any marijuana. The leagues control testing for the regular seasons. My number one priority in life, above my happiness, above my family, above my work, is my own health. It starts with my physical health. Second, it's my mental health. Then, it's my spiritual health. Monday Flotsam and Jetsam
Have a new miscellaneous thoughts and observations post up on Substack.
Tonight is game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals which means starting tomorrow both the NBA and NHL are all done until next season and the only sports to bet on until football starts again in late August are baseball, golf, or soccer. I don't have the inclination to bet golf (outside the Masters) and no interest in soccer. In the past I'd bet the Red Sox or the Yankees or Dodgers the game after a loss with the idea none of those teams go on 2-game losing streaks. This season I have no interest in following the Red Sox and less interest in following results for New York or Los Angeles. Guess that means more beach and hiking time for me. JAWS
The iconic movie JAWS was released 49-years ago. It was one of the first movies I saw in a theater (I was a young kid and it wasn't on its first run) and have seen it a number of times over the years plus some documentaries on how it was made. I fully expect it to be re-released next summer for a special 50th anniversary event.

ABC Nightline - the Birth of Fake News?
It can be argued that ABC News: Nightline was the birth of fake news. The show's original tagline was "The Iranian Crisis: America Held Hostage." That was highly editorial and jingoistic in nature if you think about it just for a minute. This should come as no surprise when you realize it was the brainchild of Roone Arledge who was promoted from heading ABC Sports to heading the news department as well. It's even less surprising when you realize that Arledge is the same guy who lost the rights to televise the real sport of NBA games and replaced it on Sunday afternoons with made-up competition of the Superstars.
Superstars did better ratings on ABC than CBS did with NBA games in the same time slots. Likewise ABC News went from a 3rd place also ran to a ratings juggernaut under Arledge with the creation of ABC News: Nightline. The fact was not lost on ABC's competition and programming news stories for ratings (the clicks of the day) was off and running.
