|I was born and raised in Wheatland, Iowa. I learned the hard work ethic from my parents and the local farmers where I baled hay and detassled corn. I graduated in 1984 as class president of Wheatland High School. I graduated from Iowa State University with a BBA in 1989 and later from the University of Iowa with an MA in Education in 1998.
I started my career in 1990 at the Handicapped Development Center working with children and adults with mental disabilities. I continued improving people's lives by becoming a special education teacher in 1998 at Davenport West High School where I continue to teach.
I have resided in Clinton County most of my life. I have resided in DeWitt the last 23 years. I have 2 adult children, Jarrod and Morgan. Jarrod is a police officer in Marana, Arizona. Morgan is a barista in DeWitt.
- I want to support and fund public schools at the very least at the rate of inflation. Public education has been under funded the last 10 years at a rate less than inflation. We currently have a teacher shortage which in my view is partially due to the under funding of schools. This funding directly impacts how much pay teachers will get and the amount of support for them.
- I want to invest in our infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and broadband. Iowa bridges are ranked 48th in the nation according to a 2021 report by the American Road and Transportation Builder's Association. Iowa should be investing in our infrastructure and our communities.
- I want affordable and accessible healthcare for all Iowans. I want every Iowan to have quality care that is free from government intrusion between the patient and his/her medical doctor. Iowa has difficulty attracting and retaining medical doctors especially in the rural areas. Banning medical procedures such as abortions and placing fines on doctors and /or jail time, will only exacerbate the problem of finding quality OBGYN doctors for Iowa.

My Father who had a very hard work ethic. My Mother who was very loving and caring. Both of these traits have been valuable to me in my life.
I worked for farmers baling hay and delivered newspapers as a teenager.
