Chris Cournoyer (Republican Party) is the Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. She assumed office on December 16, 2024. Her current term ends on January 12, 2027.
Cournoyer (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Iowa State Senate to represent District 35. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Governor of Iowa Kim Reynolds (R) appointed Cournoyer as Lieutenant Governor of Iowa on December 16, 2024, to replace Adam Gregg (R). Following this appointment, Cournoyer resigned from her position in the Iowa Senate, representing District 35.[1]
Biography
Chris Cournoyer was born in Dallas, Texas.[2] Cournoyer earned a B.A. in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin. Cournoyer previously served as the president of the Pleasant Valley School Board and on the board of the Governor of Iowa's STEM Advisory Council.[2][3]
