Toronto Maple Leafs

a.k.a. Toronto Arenas (1917-19),
Toronto St. Pats (1919-27)
First season: 1917-18
Home arena: Scotiabank Arena

Stanley Cups won: 13
1918, 1922, 1932, 1942, 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1967

Stanley Cup Final appearances: 21

When Conn Smythe bought the team in 1927, he renamed them the Maple Leafs, since he once scouted a team called the "East Toronto Maple Leafs." Smythe, a World War I veteran, was very patriotic and liked the grammatically incorrect name's link to Canada's national symbol.
