'dus tlphtl numb in in tlgse ettut @anni rmt milking gmt nf me tame,
TO" ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that'I, E. BECKER, ofCineinnati, in the county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and improved Roofing; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had -to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
The present invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in roofing of that class embraced and described in the specification accompanying an application now on tile in the Patent Olce of the United States, whereby the roofing is much simplified and eheapened, and besides the several sheets are rendered more {irin and fixed in position, and thus prevented from making any disagreeable noise when severe `winds arelblowing, as well as from receiving any unnecessary friction and shocks. l In the accompanying pleite of drawings nxy improved roofing is illustiatedi i `Figure 1 being a perspectiye View from the top of the frame of a roof` covered with my improved roofing,V
with-the latter shown in section; and
Figure 2, a cross-section in plane of line a; x, fig. 1. Similar letters of reference indicate like parts,
'The improvements involved in the present invent-ion relate to the manner of formingthe overlapping edges of theV sheets'of metal A, -constituting the roofing, which consists in bending upward the erigeof` the lower and under sheet and in bending or doubling over the edge of the upper sheet, which rests upon thenpward bent or curved edge of the under and lower sheet, as plainly shown in` fig. 1 of the drawings. Bythe above method of` overlapping the edges of the metallic sheets, the doubled-over edge of the upper sheet is pressed against the bar ,iB by the upward curved edge of ths lower sheet with an elastic and yielding pressure, as it were, thus securing the several advantages hereinbefore described, as is obvious without any further` explanation.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The curved edge and doubled-over edge `of `the 'two overlapping edges of the metallic plates A, substantially as and for the purposes described.
ED. BECKER;
