Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:9-Hydroxy-7-nonen-1-al expressed by the formula.
USE: A starting material for various compounds,e.g. 1,9-nonanedial, azelaic acid, 1,9-nonanediol or 1,9-diamine, which are raw materials for polyseters or polyurethanes.
PROCESS: 2,7-Octadien-1-ol is hydroformylated with a mixture gas of CO with H2 in an organic solvent in the presence of a rhodium catalyst at 50W110°C and atmospheric pressureW100atm to give the compound expressed by the formula with ease. The use of a bidentate diphosphinoalkane in the reaction provides the aimed compound in high yield.
