Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound which is a synthetic intermediate for agricultural chemicals, etc., by reacting an aromatic amino compound and an aromatic nitro compound with an organic hydroxyl compound, H2 and CO in the presence of a specific metallic catalyst and co-catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic amino compound and an aromatic nitro compound are reacted with an organic hydroxyl compound, H2 and CO in the presence of a catalyst and a co-catalyst to give an aromatic urethane. A catalyst containing a platinum group metal is used as the catalyst, and a halide of a metal selected from GroupsIb, IIb, Va, VIa, VIIa in the preiodic table and iron family metals and a lamellar compound of graphite are used as the co-catalyst. The aimed compound can be obtained from inexpensive raw materials by easy operations. The catalyst is a solid, and easily separated and recovered after the reaction and reusable.
