Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a polar solvent in high yield and purity, by reacting an isocyanate with triethylsilane in the presence of a Pd catalyst, and treating the addition product with an acid halide.
CONSTITUTION: An isocyanate is reacted with an equimolar amount of triethylsilane in the presence of PdCl2 or Pd-active carbon catalyst to give an addition product. The reaction is carried out in a dry inert atmosphere at a temperature of 80W130°C. The resultant addition product is then isolated by distillation, and treated with an acid halide to afford an N-acyl-N-substituted formainde derivative, which is a useful substance as a synthetic intermediate for amino acids, peptides, etc.
