Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase both the S/N and the maximum light reception level by giving the control via part of the reception output to the emitter voltage of the transistor which amplifies the output of the photo detection diode. CONSTITUTION:The signal detected through photo detection diode DP is amplified by amplifier 1 and via low-noise transistor Q1. Part of output 10 is turned into DC voltage VDC via peak detection circuit 2 and then applied to differential amplifier 11 along with reference voltage VS. The output of amplifier 11 is applied to AGC terminal 20 of amplifier 1 as well as to transistor Q2 which controls the emitter current of Q1. As a result, the emitter current of Q1 has fluctuation in accordance with the size of the optical input signal, thus forming an optical receiving circuit featuring a large dynamic range.
