Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the maximum allowance input to obtain a low-noise amplifier by constituting the first and second steps of the IF amplifier with the differential amplifiers, switching the sucking current of the first step to the second step to control the gain, and switchig the current to a low gain when the signal input is large.
CONSTITUTION: Transistor TR18 and resistance 27 are connected between the common emitter and the earth for the differential amplifier pair of amplifier 4 at the second step of the gain control, and control voltage 10 is applied to the base. The IF output is extracted from the collectors of TR16 and 17. Voltage 10 is applied also to amplifier 3 of the first step and then split to resistance 25 and 26 to be applied to the base of TR15. When the input field is intensified with the level of voltage 10 lowered, the gain of amplifier 4 is lowered. And the gain of amplifer 3 is constant while TR15 conducts. When the input field is further intensified, TR15 is cut off, and the gain of amplifier 3 is determined with the sucking current caused only by resistance 23.
