上記式1より、逆に、観察する光の範囲(直径w[m])から、その範囲の光を観察する際の光拡散層62の半値角半値角θを求めると、下記式2で表すことができる。

モアレ低下度=20log10(B/A)
モアレ低下度とモアレレーティングとの関係を図13に示す。図13を参照することで、平均輝度に対してモアレの振幅がどの程度になれば、モアレの見え方がどのモアレレーティングに該当するかがわかる。

として、基準となる半値角との比を示すKの値を求める。モアレレーティング1となる半値角は1.7°であるので、K=0.20である。モアレレーティング2となる半値角は2.4°であるので、K=0.28である。また、モアレレーティング3となる半値角は4.2であるので、K=0.50であり、モアレレーティング4となる半値角は5.8°であるので、K=0.68であり、モアレレーティング5となる半値角は7.9°であるので、K=0.93である。

を満たす半値角θの光拡散層14(図1)を用いることで、対応するレーティング以上のレーティングを得ることができる。すなわち、式3にて、Kの値を、レーティング3に対応するK=0.5以上の値とすることで、モアレが気になるが邪魔にならない状態とすることができる。また、レーティング4に対応するK=0.68以上の値とすることで、モアレを気にならない状態にすることができ、K=0.93以上の値とすることで、モアレがわからない状態にすることができる。
輝度低下率={(B1―B2)/B1}×100(%)
輝度低下率とKとの関係を、図15に示す。図15を参照すると、Kの値と輝度低下率とは比例関係を示していることがわかる。図15に示すグラフより、Kの値と輝度低下率との関係を示す近似式を導出すると、
輝度低下率=14.4×K
が得られる。上記近似式を用いて、輝度低下率が100%となるKの値を算出すると、K=6.9となる。従って、Kの値は、6.9が上限となると考えられる。

Claims (9)
- それぞれが一対の透明基板に挟まれた液晶層を有する第1及び第2の液晶表示素子であって、双方の液晶表示素子の各画素表示領域が互いに対応して配置されるように積層された第1及び第2の液晶表示素子と、
前記積層された第1及び第2の液晶表示素子を外側から挟む一対の偏光板と、
前記第1の液晶表示素子と前記第2の液晶表示素子との間にそれぞれ配置される、少なくとも1つの偏光板、及び、光拡散性を有する光拡散層とを有し、
前記光拡散層が、多重反射拡散シートで構成され、
前記光拡散層は、該光拡散層に入射した直線偏光を、該直線偏光の偏光状態を保ちつつ拡散し、
前記第1の液晶表示素子と前記第2の液晶表示素子との間に2つの偏光板を備えており、該2つの偏光板の光透過軸又は光吸収軸が互いにほぼ平行であり、
前記第1の液晶表示素子の一対の透明基板のうち能動素子が形成された一方の透明基板と、前記第2の液晶表示素子の一対の透明基板のうち能動素子が形成された一方の透明基板との間に、前記第1及び第2の液晶表示素子の他方の透明基板の少なくとも1つが配置され、
前記第1及び第2の液晶表示素子のそれぞれは、各画素表示領域内の電極が少なくとも1つの屈曲部を形成しており、前記第2の液晶表示素子の屈曲部は、前記第1の液晶表示素子の屈曲部との間で平行な部分がなくなるように、前記第1の液晶表示素子の屈曲部を所定角度回転させた向きに配置され、
前記所定角度が、0°より大きく180°より小さい、
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記所定角度が90°である、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1の液晶表示素子の他方の透明基板、及び、前記第2の液晶表示素子の他方の透明基板の少なくとも一方には、カラーフィルタが形成されている、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1の液晶表示素子の解像度が、前記第2の液晶表示素子の解像度よりも低い、請求項1〜3の何れか一に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第2の液晶表示素子又は第1の液晶表示素子の何れか一方は、1ピクセルが原色の組合せからなる複数のサブピクセルから構成されているカラーフィルタを有し、他方はカラーフィルタを具備していない、請求項1〜4の何れか一に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1の液晶表示素子のブラックマトリクスが形成された層と、前記第2の液晶表示素子のブラックマトリクスが形成された層との間に生じた間隔を視差として利用することで3次元表示を可能とした、請求項1〜5の何れか一に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 各液晶表示素子は、前記各画素表示領域内に、画素電極と、共通電極と、互いに交差する信号線及びデータ線と、を有しており、前記画素電極と、前記共通電極と、が前記各画素表示領域内の電極であり、前記信号線及び前記データ線の交点近傍のそれぞれに、前記画素電極に接続されるとともに、3端子からなる非線形素子が配置され、駆動信号により擬似的なスタティック駆動が実施できるアクティブマトリクス駆動が実施されている、請求項1〜6の何れか一に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 各液晶表示素子は、前記各画素表示領域内に、画素電極と、共通電極と、互いに交差する信号線及びデータ線と、を有しており、前記画素電極と、前記共通電極と、が前記各画素表示領域内の電極であり、前記信号線及び前記データ線の交点近傍のそれぞれに、前記画素電極に接続されるとともに、2端子からなる非線形素子が配置されることでアクティブマトリクス駆動が実施されている、請求項1〜6の何れか一に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1〜8の何れか一に記載の液晶表示装置を備えたことを特徴とする画像診断装置。
