Abstract
Description
すなわち、LVパネルとしてTNモードの液晶パネルを用いた液晶表示装置では、透過率を最大化することはできるものの、視野角が狭くなるとともに、視野角が非対称になることによって、表示品質が低下するという問題がある。
そのため、TNモードの液晶パネルを用いて高い透過率を確保しつつ、広視野角特性を実現するとともに、モアレを低減することができる。
図1は、この発明の実施の形態1に係る液晶表示装置を示す断面図である。図1において、液晶表示装置100は、バックライト10、表示面側のRGBパネル20、バックライト側のLVパネル30および光拡散層40から構成されている。なお、RGBパネル20は、広視野角特性を有するIPSモードの液晶パネルであり、LVパネル30は、TNモードの液晶パネルである。
そのため、TNモードの液晶パネルを用いて高い透過率を確保しつつ、広視野角特性を実現するとともに、モアレを低減することができる。
また、TNモードの液晶パネルを用いることにより、電極パターンを単純化して、透過率を低下させることなく、製造コストを低減するとともに、不良率も低減することができる。
Claims (6)
- 複数枚の液晶パネルを重ね合わせて構成される液晶表示装置であって、
液晶パネルと液晶パネルとの間に設けられ、入射された光を拡散して出射する光拡散層を備え、
前記光拡散層のバックライト側の液晶パネルは、TNモードの液晶パネルである
液晶表示装置。 - 前記光拡散層は、シート、接着剤および樹脂の少なくとも1つにより構成されている
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記光拡散層は、50%以上のヘイズ値を有する
請求項1または請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記光拡散層は、複数の層で構成されている
請求項1から請求項3までの何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数枚の液晶パネルのそれぞれの両面に設けられた偏光板をさらに備え、
液晶パネル同士の重ね合わせ面で対向する偏光板同士は、透過軸方向が互いに一致している
請求項1から請求項4までの何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶表示装置の表示面側の液晶パネルは、広視野角特性を有する
請求項1から請求項5までの何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
