Description
本出願は、2015年11月30日に出願された韓国特許出願第10−2015−0168682号、及び2016年11月24日に出願された韓国特許出願第10−2016−0157559号に基づいた優先権の利益を主張し、当該韓国特許出願の文献に開示されている全ての内容は本明細書の一部として含まれる。

前記強度比を満たす範囲で第1及び第2リチウムニッケル酸化物を含むことにより、サイクル特性及び大電流放電特性などの、正極に求められる電気化学的特性を低下させることなく高い電極密度を具現することができる。より具体的に、前記正極活物質は、前記特性を有する第1及び第2リチウムニッケル酸化物を、前記数式(1)でのr値が1.5から3、より好ましくは1.5から2となるように含むことができる。
下記表1に記載された第1及び第2リチウムニッケル酸化物粒子を8:2の重量比で混合し、それぞれの正極活物質を製造した。
実施例1から実施例4、比較例1から比較例5で製造した正極活物質をそれぞれ利用してリチウム二次電池を製造した。
実施例1、実施例2、比較例1から比較例5で製造した正極活物質を利用して、前記製造例に基づいて製造したそれぞれの正極に対し、圧延機を利用して4,000kg・fの力を加えて圧延した後、厚さ及び電極の重さを測定し、これから限界電極密度を評価した。その結果を下記表3に示した。
実施例1及び比較例1で製造した正極活物質を利用して、前記製造例に基づいて製造したそれぞれのリチウム二次電池に対し、常温(25℃)で2.8Vから4.25Vの駆動電圧の範囲内で0.5C/0.5Cの条件で充放電を実施し、SOC 50%を基準に充電して抵抗を測定した。SOC 50%での実施例1の初期抵抗を100%の基準にして比較例1と比べた。その結果を下記表4に示した。

M2は、Ba、Ca、Zr、Ti、Mg、Ta、Nb及びMoでなる群より選択されるいずれか一つまたは二つ以上の元素を含むものである請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極活物質。 - 前記化学式(1)で、1.0≦a≦1.2、0<x≦0.2、0<y≦0.2、0<w≦0.1及び0<x+y≦0.2であるものである請求項2に記載の二次電池用正極活物質。
- 前記ニッケルは、前記第1リチウムニッケル酸化物粒子及び前記第2リチウムニッケル酸化物粒子のうち少なくともいずれか一つの粒子で、粒子の中心から表面に行くほど漸進的に減少する濃度勾配で分布するものである請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極活物質。
- 前記第2リチウムニッケル酸化物粒子の平均粒径に対する前記第1リチウムニッケル酸化物粒子の平均粒径の比(前記第1リチウムニッケル酸化物粒子の平均粒径/前記第2リチウムニッケル酸化物粒子の平均粒径)が1.5から3である請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極活物質。
- 前記二次電池用正極活物質のタップ密度が2.0g/cc以上である請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極活物質。
- 請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の二次電池用正極活物質を含む二次電池用正極。
- 前記二次電池用正極は、正極集電体、及び、前記正極集電体の上に位置する正極活物質層を含み、
前記正極活物質層は、前記二次電池用正極活物質を前記正極活物質層の総重量に対して90から98重量%で含むものである請求項7に記載の二次電池用正極。 - 前記二次電池用正極は、3.5g/cc以上の電極密度を有するものである請求項7に記載の二次電池用正極。
- 請求項7に記載の二次電池用正極を含むリチウム二次電池。
- 請求項10に記載のリチウム二次電池を単位セルとして含む電池モジュール。
- 請求項11に記載の電池モジュールを含む電池パック。
- 中大型デバイスの電源として用いられるものである請求項12に記載の電池パック。
- 前記中大型デバイスが、電気自動車、ハイブリッド電気自動車、プラグインハイブリッド電気自動車及び電力貯蔵用システムでなる群より選択されるものである請求項13に記載の電池パック。
