Superheating tubes with external ribs.- The walls around the furnace of a steam boiler consist of groups of more or less vertical spaced tubes formed w i t h overlapping flanges, which close the spaces between the tubes. The walls around the furnace of a water-tube boiler 10. Fig. 1, consist of groups of vertical tubes 28 connected to upper and lower headers and having overlapping flange plates 30 which are welded or otherwise secured to the tubes. The tube group 26 forming the rear wall serves as a superheater, the upper header 27 of the group being connected to the steam pipe 17.
