Abstract
1497282 Energy conserving building W T SANDEY 12 June 1975 [19 April 1974 18 Feb 1975] 17181/74 and 6761/75 Heading E1A A building having a framework of columns and beams has each column formed by a vertical hollow member 54 with internal ribs 42 forming a plurality of hollow spaces 55, which spaces contain a heat absorbing material e.g. concrete, sand, liquid, air or other gas which if fluid may be circulated or filtered. Each hollow member being clad on its sides external to the building with panels 56 of heat insulating material which may have surfacing layers of plastics or plasterboard. The framework secures a superstructure incorporating heat absorbing wall panels 12 of similar construction to the columns and a roof incorporating an angularly adjustable solar energy water heater, a wind powered electric generator and rain water collection and circulating means. The building also incorporates a gas producing waste digester and a soil covered floor area for growing plants which area may be directly beneath the roof which may be transparent. Circular supporting columns (92) Fig. 17 (not shown) may form gas holders. Service conduits or cables may be accommodated in the panel apertures 43. The interior and exterior insulation panels (82, 84) Fig. 10 (not shown) of the wall panels may be pivoted doors to allow heating of the heat absorbing element by sun light and subsequent radiation into the building.
