Abstract

1367645 Prefabricated buildings; floor slabs E K RICE 10 Nov 1971 [27 Nov 1970] 52117/ 71 Headings E1A and E1W A demountable multi-storey building such as a garage is constructed from precast supporting modules shaped as shown in Fig. 4 which are arranged in superimposed and spaced relationship to define a series of spaced columns which are interconnected by floor slabs 2 or 3 as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, respectively. The superimposed modules are interconnected by vertical tendons which through the legs 7 thereof and are anchored to the foundations; horizontal tendons passing through charts such as 10, 22 interconnecting the floor slabs to the modules. If desired the floor slabs may be cast in situ between adjacent supporting modules by utilising formwork which is progressively lowered from the uppermost level to the lower levels, see Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown). The chases in the floor slabs may be of straight or of catenary profile and for further details thereof together with modified slabs, dimensions, expansion joints, method of erection and walkway provided the Specification and remaining drawings (not shown), should be referred to.
