Abstract

Scrap metal or alloys of particle size 1-5 mm which is not suitable as such for returning to the process feed, is aggregated by use of a hydraulic hardening binder. The agglomerates formed are crushed to a mean particle size (usually up to 80 mm) appropriate to the process requirements. Specif. the binder is cement (with lime) or crushed slag (with alkali silicates). The process is of partic. application in the ferrous metal industry.
