Abstract
1445792 Pelletizing iron ores NIPPON STEEL CORP 15 Feb 1974 7108/74 Heading C1A In a process for the production of iron ore pellets from iron ore and an inorganic or mineral cement, free iron, in the form of a powder capable of passing through a 100 mesh Tyler sieve, is admixed with the iron ore and cement prior to pelletization. The pellets may comprise by weight, iron ore (98-60%) and a mixture (2-40%) comprising cement (95-15%) and iron powder (5-85%). Some of the iron ore (2-10%) may be present in grain 0À25-1 mm. in diameter and the cement may be Portland cement, pozzolan cement, slag cement or alumina cement. The iron powder may be iron cutting scrap, atomized iron powder, reduced iron powder or ferruginous scale and may contain 3-10% of free iron.
