Abstract

本发明一般来说涉及发光器件,本发明具体来说涉及涂敷有磷光体的发光二极管(LED)或激光二极管。
相关技术的描述
固态光源已经用了许多年。颜色主要是红、橙、和绿。在最近几年,还生产了蓝光LED。红、绿、和蓝LED的组合可以产生白光,但具有复杂的4引线包装。然而,不同的LED有不同的流明相对于寿命的曲线,使颜色随寿命而变。在1996年秋季,日本的Nichia引入了一种新的白光LED,产品型号为NSPW310AS。这种产品使用掺有铈的钇铝柘榴石,可以把自LED的蓝光发射转换成极宽频带的黄光发射。发射峰在580nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度为160nm.。在LED上直接涂有磷光体。整个器件包在透明的塑料透镜中。发射包含足够多的黄光发射,以便在约8000°K的色温产生白光,彩色再现指数(CRI)约为77,器件发光效率约为每瓦特输入电功率5流明(lm/w)。
众所周知,在不同的地理地区,人们对于发光特性的爱好是不同的。例如,在世界的某些地区,偏爱的是高色温,但在另外一些地区,则喜欢较低的色温。类似地,在某些地区,喜欢90几的CRI,但另一些地区则喜欢80几的CRI。因此期望,灯的输出特性能够适应特定的爱好。
使用较多的磷光体可以降低Nichia生产的白光LED的色温,但同时也降低了系统的效率。因此需要一种具有较高器件发光效率的涂磷光体的LED;还需要具有较低色温的这样的LED。
发明的概述
按照本发明的一个典型的实施方案,一种发光器件包括发射蓝光的LED,发射蓝光的LED由含磷光体的覆盖物覆盖,含磷光体的覆盖物包含发射绿光的磷光体和发射红光的磷光体,所说绿和红磷光体可由发射蓝光的LED激发。

优选实施例的详细描述
除非另有说明或者显而易见,所说的份都是指重量份,所说的百分数都是指重量百分数。当给出优选范围时,例如5-25,这意味着优选至少为5,并且优选不超过25。
用来描述光源的输出光谱的某些较重要的参数有色温、彩色再现指数、和器件发光效率。输出光谱的色温不是光源颜色的准确表示。光源的色温指的是和所讨论的光源有最接近的色匹配的黑体源的温度。色匹配在一般情况下是按常规的CIE(Commission Interation del′Eclairage)色度图表示和比较的。例如参见“物理科学和技术百科全书“第7卷,第230-230页(Robert A.Meyers ed.,1987)。一般来说,当色温提高时,光变得更蓝些。当色温降低时,光变得更红些。
当使用与标准光源相对的所论的光源进行测量时,彩色再现指数(CRI)是一组标准染料的表观颜色的畸变程度的一种度量。通过计算由与标准光源相对的所论的光源产生的色位移(例如量化为三色系数),可以确定CRI。在一般情况下,对于低于5000°K的色温,所用的标准光源是适宜温度的黑体。对于大于5000°K的色温,一般使用日光作为标准光源。具有相对连续的输出光谱的光源,例如白炽灯,一般具有高的CEI,例如等于或接近100。具有多线输出光谱的光源,例如高压放电灯,一般具有范围约为50-80的CRI。荧光灯一般具有大于约60的CRI。
器件发光效率定义为灯输出的光通量除以输入到灯的电功率。灯的器件发光效率考虑到:光谱发光效率(输出的光通量除以输入的辐射功率)、器件效率(LED输出的辐射功率除以输入到LED的电功率)、磷光体组合物的量子效率(磷光体发射的光子数除以磷光体吸收的光子数)、以及和发射光的频率降低有关的能量损耗(这个能量损耗等于hΔν,这里h是普朗克常数,Δν是光的频率变化)。
本发明的典型的实施方案包括LED和磷光体组合物,它们在一起可产生令人尝心悦目的白光。例如LED和磷光体组合物可以产生色温在3000°K-6500°K之间的光,例如色温为3000、3500、4100、5000、6500°K。典型的磷光体组合物还可以产生相当高的CRI,例如,一般大于70,优选的大于80,例如83-87,并且可以产生高的器件发光效率,例如每瓦特输入电功率或更大的输入电功率的器件发光效率为10-20。
现在参照附图1,其中表示涂有磷光体的LED或发光器件l0,它具有发射蓝光的LED12和透明的聚合物透镜16,该LED12由含磷光体层或覆盖层14覆盖(磷光体直接涂在LED上)。现在参照附图2,其中表示涂磷光体的LED或发光器件10,它具有发射蓝光的LED12和透明的聚合物透镜16,该LED12由含磷光体层或覆盖层15覆盖(磷光体嵌入聚合物中),该聚合物透镜16模注在层15上。例如,透镜16还可以是漫射透镜,用于散射通过它传播的光。透镜16和层15也可含例如硅材料。
发射蓝光的LED12的发射峰在420-470nm,更一般的在430-460nm,还要更一般的在440-450,优选的在450-470nm,其在1/2最大值处的全宽度一般不大于70nm,更一般的不大于50nm,还要更加一般的不大于30nm。这类发射蓝光的LED在本领域是已知的,其优选实例可由日本Nichia公司以产品No.NSCB100讲到。LED12的器件发光效率(LED发出的辐射功率除以输入电功率)优选的至少为4%,更优选的为6%,还要更加优选的为8%。发射蓝光的LED在本领域中一般是公知的。
按照本发明的一个实施例,使用两个蓝光激发的磷光体(用LED12的蓝光发射激发)的组合代替上述Nichia产品的发射黄光的钇铝柘榴石,这两个蓝光激发的磷光体中的一个发射绿光,另一个发射红光。因为这些新的发射接近与LED发出的蓝光组合形成的三色刺激功能的峰值,所以它们产生的光和现有技术器件中所使用的磷光体相比,具有较高的发光效率和较好的彩色再现性。对于这些绿光和红光磷光体进行选择,以使它们可以由发射蓝光的LED激发。发射绿色光的磷光体发射峰一般在510-560nm,更一般的在530-555nm,还要更加一般的在540-550nm,例如约为545nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度不大于60,一般不大于50、35、20、10、或5nm。发射红色光的磷光体的发射峰一般在600-630nm,更一般的在610-625nm,还要更加一般的在610-615nm,优选的约为611nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度不大于100,一般不大于60、50、20、10、或5nm。含磷光体层14和15包括这些发射绿色光的磷光体和发射红色光的磷光体。这些磷光体的粒度一般优选为2-5微米。
磷光体组合物的一个例子至少包括下述的发射绿色光的磷光体之一YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+;BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+,Mn2+;(Sr,Ca,Ba)(Al,Ga)2S4:Eu2+;并且与至少以下的发射红色光的磷光体之一组合:Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+;YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+;SrS:Eu2+;SrY2S4:Eu2+;CaLa2S4:Ce3+;(Ca,Sr)S:Eu2+。
在上述磷光体中,冒号后边的元素代表激活剂。记法(A,B,C)代表(Ax,Bx,Cx),其中:0≤x≤1,0≤y≤1,0≤z≤1,并且x+y+z=1。例如,(Sr,Ca,Ba)代表(Srx,Cay,Baz),其中:0≤x≤1,0≤y≤1,0≤z≤1,并且x+y+z=1。记法(A,B)代表(Ax,Bx),其中:0≤x≤1,0≤y≤1,并且x+y=1。一般来说,x和y都不是0。
发绿光的磷光体在被蓝光激发时具有下述特性:YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+的发射峰在约545nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为2nm;BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+,Mn2+的发射峰在约515nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为50nm;(Sr,Ca,Ba)(Al,Ga)2S4:Eu2+的发射峰在约540nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为50nm。
发红光的磷光体在被蓝光激发时具有下述特性:Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+的发射峰在约620nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为2nm;YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+的发射峰在约620nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为2nm;SrS:Eu2+的发射峰在约610nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为70nm;(Ca,Sr)S:Eu2+的发射峰在约610nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为50nm;SrY2S4:Eu2+的发射峰在约645nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为100nm;CaLa2S4:Ce3+的发射峰在约600nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度约为100nm。
优选的作法是,按重量比将红光和绿光磷光体混合起来,从而可以和LED的蓝光发射结合起来,它们产生适当的白光,例如:对于约45/20(红与绿的重量比),得到约3000°K的白光;对于约42/22(红与绿的重量比),得到约3500°K的白光;对于约34/25(红与绿的重量比),得到约4100°K的白光;对于约27/25(红与绿的重量比),得到约5000°K的白光;对于约20/25(红与绿的重量比),得到约6500°K的白光。从Eu3+(红)和Tb3+(绿)还可以获得期望的发射。其它的用于绿光发射的激活剂包括Mn2+和Eu2+。
红光磷光体Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+和YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+具有相当窄的输出光谱,例如,1/2最大值处的全宽度小于约5nm,一般约2nm。绿光磷光体YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+也有相当窄的输出光谱,例如,1/2最大值处的全宽度小于约5nm,一般约2nm。YO2S:Eu3+,Bi3+和/或YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+与YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+的组合,将提供能有效地把蓝光转换为光通量的磷光体组合物。这些磷光体的效率和人的眼睛对于光的不同波长的可变灵敏度有关。在光谱的红光范围,人的眼睛的灵敏度在大于约650nm的波长处急骤下降。宽频带的红光磷光体的发射光谱在人的眼睛不敏感的大于650nm的波长处有一个相当大的发射部分。对于具有尖锐谱线的红光磷光体,例如Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+和YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+,几乎所有的发射光谱都位于人的眼睛对于红光最敏感的区域内,和宽频带红光磷光体相比,具有较高的光通量。一般来说,人的眼睛对于绿光波长的灵敏度下降得不如红光波长那么快,所以具有尖锐谱线发射的绿光磷光体就不那么重要。然而,例如YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+之类的磷光体具有靠近光谱的最灵敏的绿光区(555nm)的尖锐的谱线发射,这样的磷光体也能有效地产生光通量。
通过组合化学计量的Y2O3、Eu2O3、Bi2O3、和V2O5并且在球磨内研磨约2小时,从而可以制备出红光磷光体Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+。然后,将混合物放在炉内在约100℃下空气焙烧10个小时左右。加入铋,则可增加被磷光体吸收的光的波长,以致吸收蓝光。
通过组合化学计量的Y2O3、Eu2O3、Bi2O3并且在球磨内研磨约2小时,从而可以制备出红光磷光体YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+。然后,将混合物在H2S气氛下并在约100℃下加热3个小时左右。加入铋,则可增加被磷光体吸收的光的波长,以致吸收蓝光。
按照本发明的另一个实施方案,发射蓝光的LED与发射白光的磷光体组合以产生白光。发射白光的磷光体的一个例子是SrS:Eu2+,Ce3+,K+,如图4所示的,它有宽的发射。可以使用SrS:Eu2+,Ce3+,K+并利用适当的激发(如在约425-430nm的蓝光LED发射)产生白光,其中光谱的红光部分由SrS:Eu2+提供,光谱的绿光部分由SrS:Ce3+提供。
按照本发明的另一个实施方案,发射蓝光的LED与黄光磷光体和红光磷光体组合以产生白光。在一般情况下,黄光磷光体的发射峰在约570-590nm,红光磷光体的发射峰在约600-650nm。第一磷光体可以包括例如掺有3价铈的钇-铝-柘榴石(Y3Al5O12-Ce3+),它可以发射相当宽的黄光光谱,其发射峰在约580nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度约为160nm。第二磷光体发射红光,并且包括上述的红光磷光体中的至少一种:Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+;YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+;SrS:Eu2+;SrY2S4:Eu2+;CaLa2S4:Ce3+;(Ca,Sr)S:Eu2+。
优选的作法是,按重量比将红光和黄光磷光体混合起来,从而可以和LED的蓝光发射组合,它们产生适当的白光,例如:对于约45/20(红与黄的重量比),得到约3000°K的白光;对于约42/22(红与黄的重量比),得到约3500°K的白光;对于约34/25(红与黄的重量比),得到约4100°K的白光;对于约27/25(红与黄的重量比),得到约5000°K的白光;对于约20/25(红与黄的重量比),得到约6500°K的白光。
为了向LED涂敷含磷光体层,可以将红和绿或黄(以下写成绿/黄)光磷光体或白光磷光体(SrS:Eu2+,Ce3+,K+)干混成一种适当的混合物,然后加到液体悬浮介质中,或者将各个磷光体(一种或多种)加到液体悬浮液中,例如商业漆中使用的硝化纤维素/乙酸丁酯粘合剂和溶质溶液。还可以使用包括水的其它液体,其中加入适当的分散剂和增稠剂或粘结剂,如聚环氧乙烷。将含磷光体的悬浮液刷到、涂到、或按其它方式施加到LED上并干燥之。为了提供层15(见图2),磷光体(一种或多种)与适合的液体聚合物系统组合,例如聚丙烯、聚碳酸酯、或聚四氟乙烯,然后将其涂敷或施加到LED上并使之干燥、固化、硬化、或熟化。液体聚合物系统任选地可以是UV(紫外)固化的或室温固化的,从而将LED的任何热损坏减至最小。透明的聚合物透镜16由适合的塑料制成,例如聚碳酸酯或其它硬的透明塑料,然后在经过涂敷的LED上模制这个透镜16。透镜16还可以涂以抗反射层,便于光从器件逸出。
磷光体涂层的整个厚度应该吸收绝大部分蓝光辐射,同时还要允许某些蓝光辐射穿过,以给出期望的彩色或白光。
一种不是太优选的作法是,在LED上涂敷的绿光/黄光磷光体形成一个单独的层,与红光磷光体层分开(这些层在一起形成含绿光/黄光和红光的磷光体涂层),当然,绿光/黄光和红光的磷光体的总量最好保持上述的量不变。
在加上电流时,LED产生蓝光,蓝光中至少一部分被转变成红光和绿光/黄光。蓝光、红光、绿光/黄光的组合产生一种令人尝心悦目的具有优选的参数组合的白光,例如:色温在3000°K-6500°K之间,CRI大于70,一般大于80,例如在约83和87之间,器件发光效率为每瓦特输入电功率10-20流明。
本发明的优选的涂磷光体的LED每瓦特提供11流明,其色温为5000°K,蓝光LED效率为4%。因为LED的效率提高了,所以本发明的器件的每瓦特流明数也按比例提高。和三磷光体荧光灯类似,本发明使发光效率最佳化。本发明在通电时可以产生类似于三磷光体荧光灯的白光。通过红光和绿光/黄光磷光体,或者通过白光磷光体(SrS:Eu2+,Ce3+,K+)可以提供红光和绿光/黄光成分;通过LED提供蓝光成分。
图3表示发光器件30的还一个实施方案,它包括发射蓝光的激光二极管32,透明体36,和磷光体层34。发射蓝光的激光二极管32的发射峰一般在420-470nm,更加一般的在430-460nm,1/2最大值处的全宽度一般小于10nm,更加一般的小于5nm。发射蓝光的激光二极管在本领域中是公知的。例如参见美国专利583879号、第5604763号、和第5644584号,以及Shuji Nakamura和Gerhard Fasol的“蓝光激光二极管“(1997)。透明体36可以由适当的塑料制成,例如聚碳酸酯,或其它硬透明塑料,或硅材料。透明体36可以是透明的,或可以是散射可穿过它的光的漫射体。磷光体层34包括如以上所述的红光磷光体和绿光/黄光磷光体,它们能够有效地吸收来自于激光二极管的蓝光。
发光器件30还可以包括许多散射颗粒38,散射颗粒38嵌入例如含玻璃或聚合物或硅材料的透明材料中。散射颗粒例如可以包括Al2O3颗粒(如可以从Baikowski得到的CR30铝粉)或TiO2颗粒。颗粒38有效地散射了激光二极管发出的相干光,它的吸收量最好是可以略去不计的。漫射散射的激光与磷光体材料的耦合作用有利于减小光饱和效应和磷光体材料的物理损伤。
虽然已经给出并描述了本发明的优选实施方案,但应该理解,在不偏离这里公开并要求保护的本发明的范围的条件下还可以进行各种改进。
Claims (35)
1.一种发光器件,它包括发射蓝光的LED,所说发射蓝光的LED由含磷光体的覆盖物覆盖,含磷光体的覆盖物包含发射绿色光的磷光体和发射红色光的磷光体,所说发射绿色光的磷光体和发射红色光的磷光体由所说发射蓝光的LED激发。
2、权利要求1的器件,其特征在于:所说发射蓝光的LED的发射峰在420-470nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度不大于70nm。
3、权利要求1的器件,其特征在于:所说发射绿光的磷光体的发射峰在530-555nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度不大于35nm。
4、权利要求1的器件,其特征在于:所说发射红光的磷光体的发射峰在610-625nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度不大于20nm。
5、权利要求2的器件,其特征在于:所说发射绿光的磷光体的发射峰在530-555nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度不大于35nm;所说发射红光的磷光体的发射峰在610-625nm,其1/2最大值处的全宽度不大于20nm。
6、权利要求5的器件,其特征在于:所说器件在通电时产生白光,其CRI大于70。
7、权利要求6的器件,其特征在于:进一步包括位于所说含磷光体的覆盖物上的透明聚合物透镜。
8、权利要求5的器件,其特征在于:所说器件在通电时的CRI大于80。
9、权利要求5的器件,其特征在于:所说发射红光的磷光体的发射峰在约611nm。
10、权利要求9的器件,其特征在于:所说发射绿光的磷光体的发射峰在约545nm。
11、一种磷光体组合物,它吸收具有第一光谱的辐射并且发射具有第二光谱的辐射,该磷光体组合物至少包括下述的组合物之一:
YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+;
BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+,Mn2+;
(Sr,Ca,Ba)(Al,Ga)2S4:Eu2+;
Y3Al5O12-Ce3+;
并且至少包括以下的组合物之一:
Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+;
YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+;
SrS:Eu2+;
SrY2S4:Eu2+;
CaLa2S4:Ce3+
(Ca,Sr)S:Eu2+。
12、权利要求11的磷光体组合物,其特征在于:该磷光体组合物包括(Sr,Ca,Ba)(Al,Ga)2S4:Eu2+;和(Ca,Sr)S:Eu2+。
13、权利要求11的磷光体组合物,其特征在于:该磷光体组合物包括Y3Al5O12-Ce3+和SrS:Eu2+。
14、权利要求11的磷光体组合物,其特征在于:该磷光体组合物包括Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+和YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+中的至少一种。

YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+;
BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+,Mn2+;
(Sr,Ca,Ba)(Al,Ga)2S4:Eu2+;
Y3Al5O12-Ce3+;
并且至少包括以下的组合物之一:
Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+;
YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+;
SrS:Eu2+;
SrY2S4:Eu2+;
CaLa2S4:Ce3+
(Ca,Sr)S:Eu2+。

27、一种产生白光的方法,它包括如下步骤:
产生光;
引导光到磷光体组合物,该磷光体组合物至少包括下述的组合物之一:
YBO3:Ce3+,Tb3+;
BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+,Mn2+;
(Sr,Ca,Ba)(Al,Ga)2S4:Eu2+;
Y3Al5O12-Ce3+;
并且至少包括以下的组合物之一:
Y2O2S:Eu3+,Bi3+;
YVO4:Eu3+,Bi3+;
SrS:Eu2+;
SrY2S4:Eu2+;
CaLa2S4:Ce3+
(Ca,Sr)S:Eu2+;并且
用磷光体组合物转换至少一部分光使之成为具有不同光谱的光。
28、一种发光器件,包括一种发射蓝光的LED,所说发射蓝光的LED由含磷光体的覆盖物覆盖,含磷光体的覆盖物包含发射绿色光的磷光体和发射红色光的磷光体,所说发射绿色光的磷光体和发射红色光的磷光体由所说发射蓝光的LED激发,发射绿色光的磷光体和发射红色光的磷光体每个的1/2最大值处的全宽度都小于60nm.。
29、权利要求28的发光器件,其特征在于:所说发射绿光的磷光体的发射峰在510-560nm,:所说发射红光的磷光体的发射峰在600-630nm。
