On this day back in 1980 Bon Scott died - some say he choked on his own vomit but his death certificate says "death by misadventure" (wouldn't that be a great name for a band?). Anyway - here are what I consider the top 5 AC/DC songs with Bon Scott as frontman.

It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll) may be the most perfect hard rock song ever recorded. There is no way to improve on that song. Not many people know this but Bon Scott wasn't even the original lead singer for AC/DC. It was a guy named Dave Evans who Scott replaced after about a year.

Still say that James Joyce's Ulysses should be renamed Fear and Loathing in Dublin... In AC/DC's classic song Whole Lotta Rosie released in 1977 Rosie weighed 19 stone which is 266 pounds. Rosie was probably fairly unique for her weight back then but today - not so much. That isn't progress... Wouldn't Billy Gates Gruff be a good title for the story of Microsoft's rise to power?...

Yesterday was National Cereal Day but I didn't celebrate because I couldn't find any of my favorite cereal... Grizzly Slippers would be a good name for a band...  How vulnerable Democrats will feel about Trump campaigning in their states the next couple of years... The Democrats slogan going forward should be "The Democratic Party: Embrace the Suck." Have the bumper stickers been made up yet?...  Who knew? Bon Scott wasn't even the original lead singer for AC/DC. It was a guy named Dave Edwards who Scott replaced after about a year... Supposedly Douglas MacArthur didn't spend a single night in Korea during the entire duration of the war. Can that possibly be true?... Happy 68th birthday to Hall of Famer Jim Ed Rice...

Osmium is a member of the platinum family and the densest element. The second densest element is sports radio discussions in Boston regarding Gordon Haywood signing with the Charlotte Hornets. Jeez give it a rest... Dave Chappelle explains why he asked Netflix to stop streaming The Chappelle Show... I may print up business cards with the title "Director of Harlotry" - I just like the sound of that title... Maskachusetts - sadly this is true... Yes AC/DC has a formula and this is pretty much it. The funny thing is the band knows this and has been amazed it has worked for so many years. Still doesn't take anything away from their great music... Elon Musk passes Bill Gates to become the world's second richest person. Good for Elon Musk! Interesting that the three richest people in the world are all Americans (although Musk was born in South Africa) and that the two richest people now also own rocket companies with the goal of getting to Mars...

If you find yourself upset about the state of political discourse in this country just remember that 2-years ago at this time people were discussing whether President Trump's penis was shaped like mushroom or not - seriously!... AC/DC getting the band back together. New album soon to be released... Salvation a la Mode (and a Cup of Tea) would be a good name for a blog... The Kansas City Chiefs have averaged 30.3 points per game the first 3 games of the season. They would have to average 38.3 points per game for the rest of the season to match the Patriots record of 589 points in a season... Washington first responders among first to use Starlink in the field. They came away very impressed...

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) since it is funded by Federal tax dollars really should be called the American Center for Disease Control. Yes I am advocating for a name change to the ACDC.

Just think of some of the public service announcement possibilities! The ACDC can boast about how effectively they use tax dollars in a spot called "The ACDC - Dirty Diseases Done Dirt Cheap." Or maybe do a commercial geared to a specific disease like, "The ACDC - For those About to Fight Ebola (We Salute You)."

Now that Mike Gundy has turned down Tennessee - the Volunteers will next turn to Nick Saban. In the end they'll wind up with Ben McAdoo... AC/DC bandmates pay their respects to Malcolm Young... Not an Eli Manning fan in the least but for what he's done for and meant to the Giants franchise for them to treat him this way is shabby. The Giants were the "classy" New York franchise - not any more...  Good point... If "gormless" is a word - shouldn't "gormfull" also be a word?...Older people remember November 22nd as the anniversary of the JFK assassination. Younger people remember the date as the anniversary of the Butt Fumble... An Iranian wrestler throws his match rather than face an Israeli. This is acceptable behavior? Ban Iran from International competition for making their athletes behave this way...

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

Malcolm Young, one of the founders of the legendary rock band AC/DC has passed away at age 64.

Today might be a good day to re-read this New Yorker article from a couple years ago that does a good job detailing how Malcolm and Angus Young created one of the all-time great bands.

I'll go to my grave thinking that AC/DC's It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock and Roll) is the perfect rock and roll song. There's no way to improve it and no cover will ever be as good.
