Abstract

 白金触媒の代替材料として有用な高い酸素還元能を有する金属酸化物電極触媒を提供すること。  本発明の金属酸化物電極触媒は、金属化合物(X)を酸素含有雰囲気下で熱処理して得られる金属酸化物(Y)からなる電極触媒であって、前記金属化合物(X)の金属の価数が前記金属酸化物(Y)の金属の価数よりも小さいことを特徴とする。
